EU Ambassador Oana Kristina Popa in Rožaje: Minorities are the strength of Montenegro
President of the Municipality Rahman Husovic and president of the SO Almir Avdic they met with the head of the European Union delegation in Montenegro, Oana by Christina Pop who, accompanied by her associates, is today on an official visit to Rožaje.
Ambassador of the EU in Montenegro Oana Kristina Popa at the beginning of the conversation, she thanked for the warm welcome and pointed out the reasons why she chose Rožaje to be the first municipality in the north that she visited.
"Rožaje is important because the European Union operates on the territory of the whole country and not only in Podgorica, on the other hand, the north is important because of its ethnic diversity. Minorities are the strength of Montenegro and we will further emphasize this through this type of cooperation. We encourage minorities to make their voices heard, regardless of whether they participate in government, that's why this official visit was realized precisely in the north.", she said Pop.
The President of the Municipality, Rahman Husović, after expressing his satisfaction with the visit, thanked the EU Delegation for the support that, as he stated, it continuously provides for the social integration of Bosniaks and other minorities in Montenegro, and expressed the expectation that this positive influence on social trends in our country to continue growing in the coming period.
During the meeting, President Husović presented the development potential of Rožaj as well as development projects that are being implemented in the service of improving predispositions for the development of mountain tourism and other branches of the economy. building and preserving personal and state identity.
He also said that the government at the local level is being imitated by a broad coalition, as well as that the municipality of Rozaj expects from the new government the continuation of the implementation of all investments started in the past period. Avdić added that he expects the EU in Montenegro to carefully monitor the attitude of the new government towards the less developed municipalities where mostly members of minority nations live.
The second part of the conversation was devoted to the consideration of possibilities that lead to the intensification of activities on the development and implementation of future projects financed from EU funds.
Conversations aimed at strengthening cooperation in that area continued in the "Jela" restaurant, where the presentation of the "Craftsman" project successfully implemented by the municipalities of Rožaje and Sjenica took place. Other programs for the implementation of which the Municipality expects the support of the EU were also presented.
Today, the EU delegation in Montenegro donated seven computers to Rožaj families in poor financial condition, which, according to the established list, will be handed over these days by representatives of the local self-government.
