Appeal to citizens not to light fires near forests and plantations

In the context of recent events and the occurrence of a large number of fires in the territory of the municipality of Rožaje, especially bearing in mind the upcoming summer period, when due to high temperatures and a dry period: the possibility of fire occurrence increases.

With this, from the aspect of competence of the Communal Police Service, we would like to warn and appeal to citizens (natural persons) and legal entities from the Municipality of Rožaje not to perform the following prohibited actions:

- do not light fires on public areas for the purpose of burning municipal and other waste,

- do not light fires on public green areas to burn leaves and other material and do not burn trees,

- not to pour embers and dispose of other materials in municipal waste containers.

The prohibitions listed above are prescribed by the Decision on the communal order of the Municipality of Rožaje, ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Montenegro" No. 10/2020 - Municipal regulations)

In case of non-compliance with the prohibitions listed above, the Communal Police Service will be forced to initiate sanctions in accordance with Article 132, paragraph 1, point 4 and Article 134, paragraph 1, point 5. 

For other types of causing fire hazards that fall under the jurisdiction of other State bodies and institutions, each observed case will be reported by the Officer of this Service to the competent authority for processing.
