The leaders of the Municipality of Rožaje welcomed Selim Lika, the Consul General of Montenegro in Turkey
The Consul General of Montenegro in the Republic of Turkey, Selim Liku, and the Director of the Directorate for Privileges, Immunities and Cooperation with the Diaspora in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jelena Grbović, paid an official visit to Rožaj today. They were welcomed by the presidents of the Municipality and SO Rožaje, Ejup Nurković and Almir Avdić. As they said, the meeting was organized as part of the preparations for the opening of the Consulate General in the Republic of Turkey with headquarters in Istanbul.
During the conversation, the investment potential of Rožaj, cultural contents that could be in the service of promoting this region, as well as opportunities for student exchange were presented.
"With the president of the municipality and the president of the local parliament, we had the opportunity to discuss various possibilities and models for establishing detailed and successful cooperation between emigrants from Rožaje and state authorities that aim to attract investments to Montenegro and Rožaje," said Liku.
Satisfied with the conclusions from today's working meeting, Liku pointed out that the local self-government leaders provided good information and offered specific projects that can be promoted in the coming period, noting that after the opening of the Consulate, cooperation will be intensive.
Municipal President Ejup Nurković praised the initiative of the Government of Montenegro for the opening of the Consulate in Istanbul and emphasized that the diaspora plays a key role in the promotion of Montenegro in the world, and that it also represents a bridge between the homeland and the host country.
President of SO Almir Avdić reminded that a large number of members of the diaspora in Turkey are of Rožaj origin and that the opening of the Consulate will be an opportunity to strengthen cultural, traditional, economic and other ties between people living in two, as he assessed, friendly countries.
According to announcements, Montenegro will officially open its Consulate General in Turkey at the beginning of December.
