Days of mushrooms and medicinal plants 2012
Organized by the Center for Culture and the Tourist Organization, the four-day event "Days of Mushrooms and Medicinal Herbs" was opened in Rožaje the night before yesterday, which is held as part of the cultural summer.
The president of the municipality, Nusret Kalač, said that the local administration has the ambition that this project will take on a regional character. - Our wish is for Rožaje to be a center where medicinal plant and forest fruit products will be presented. For the next year, we plan to expand the exhibition to the presentation of healthy food, because here we have several companies that are recognizable for their production in the region and beyond. Our ambitions are to valorize all the values and potentials that Rožaje has and in this way to create the basis for opening new jobs - said Kalač.
The ceremonial opening of the event was preceded by a round table on the topic "Mushrooms and medicinal plants as a development opportunity for Rožaj and the north of Montenegro". Experts in the field Ibrahim Hadžić, Gordana Kasom, Dr. Esko Kalač and professor Suzana Dacić agreed that the gifts of nature are a significant resource. They concluded that with proper valorization, through final processing, pickers and buyers would benefit far more, and much more money would flow into the state budget. The attention of a large audience was attracted by the variety of events that took place on the town square. First, there was an exhibition of about thirty art works by elementary school students with motifs of mushrooms and nature. The jury consisting of Azra Dedeić, Sabahudin Honsić and Aldemar Ibrahimović did not have an easy time choosing the best. Special attention of the audience was attracted by the members of the Folklore Ensemble of the Center for Culture, who paraded through the city dressed in traditional costumes, carrying baskets decorated with colorful flowers. On a specially prepared stage, the members of the "Snowflake" dance group performed a musical dance performance "And a golden snowflake in summer". After that, the audience had the opportunity to hear numerous participants of the "Golden Flake" festival, among whom were the winners of this year's and last year's competitions, Darija Lazarenko from Tivat and Nevena Đorojević from Podgorica, as well as Edis Agić, Haris Kalač, Sara Ljaić from Rožaj and Džan.
