On Saturday, the second "Hail Day" marathon was held, the aim of which was to promote the beauty of Štedim, the plateau at 1650 m above sea level.
The first mountain marathon "Hail Day", held on September 20, 2014, organized by the Ahmica Mountaineering Club and the NGO Runolist from Rožaj, when the magnificent beauties of Mount Štedim, its special natural infrastructure for all summer and winter sports and recreational activities (cycling , snowboarding, skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing), as well as the successful implementation of marathon competitions in several disciplines and countries. The interest for this year's marathon was great, especially from the diaspora, which until now had not had the opportunity to see all the beauty that our mountains have to offer.
This year, more than 50 nature lovers and athletes set out on a tour of Štedi along a route that led through Rusolija, Ahmica and Hajla, and ended back at Štedi. Visitors had the opportunity to stay in family cabins and cottages, meeting the warmth of people who occasionally go out into the mountains to use the pastures for their herds.
More than twenty marathoners from the country and abroad started the marathon, and the best time in the overall performance was the competitor Haris Koljenović, who during the time of 1.19 seconds ran a demanding course 13 km long, with a height difference of 150 m.
This year's marathon, like previous years, had an international character, guests from Australia, BiH, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Poland and England expressed positive impressions, announcing their presence next year as well.
The president of the municipality of Rožaje, Ejup Nurković, presented the competitors with prizes for the places won (diplomas, medals and bags with the marathon emblem).
The President of the Municipality of Rožaje, Ejup Nurković, was hosted by Mr. Osman Šala, a native of Dečan, who spends the summer period with his family on the pastures for grazing. The greenery, peace and tranquility that our mountains offer are always more reason for people to spend their relaxation period in these places, breathing fresh air with dairy products and homemade bread prepared in ovens on the katuns.
