Ejup Nurković: It will not be easy to fire workers
President of Rožaje Municipality Ejup Nurković spoke today to the public about current problems in the municipality related to the number of employees in local self-government bodies and enterprises, as well as the measures envisaged by the recently adopted Sanitation Plan and Local Self-Government Reorganization Plan.
Nurković told the journalists of Radio Television Rožaje and Television Vijesti, among other things, that the self-government of Rožaje is moving in the direction of financial rationalization, which will require the dismissal of a certain number of workers, in accordance with the adopted Plan.
Asked about the criteria on the basis of which the dismissal will be carried out, Nurković said that the process will take place in accordance with legal norms and that the local self-government will retain only those workers who support their jobs with professional references, regardless of political and other types of affiliation, so that in fully responded to the set goals.
Redundancy of workers in local administration is not a problem that is exclusively related to the municipality of Rožaje, other municipalities in Montenegro also face this situation. During the previous four years, there was an openness to give young people the chance to gain a certain level of work experience after completing their education, in order to be more competitive on the labor market. As a result of those decisions, the number of workers exceeded the optimal number, we conclude from the presentation of President Nurković.
The adopted measures that provide for layoffs are unpopular and will not be easy to implement. However, in order to achieve the interests of the entire functioning of the local community, the municipal apparatus must be relieved, in this way we expect the help of the Government, says Nurković, noting that the steps to be taken have the support of the Bosniak Party and that temporary disagreements only arose in the domain of considering the model of new borrowing.
