President of the SO Rožaje, Almir Avdic and secretary of the SO Amer Dacic, they had a reception with the mayor of Sarajevo, Abdullah Skaka, and the central topic of the meeting was Sandzak Games 2020 which will be held in Rožaje.
President of the SO Rožaje, Almir Avdic, the mayor of Sarajevo Abdullah Skaki, he presented in detail the aforementioned sports event, which was once very recognizable for its mass and sporting spirit, which brings with it new friendships, cooperation and experiences. In addition to sports, Avdić emphasized, this event contributes to the improvement and rehabilitation of old and the construction of new sports infrastructure, which creates predispositions and conditions for the birth of new sports stars, and therefore also affects the promotion of tourism potential and natural beauty and resources of the city where they are held.
With a serious approach, Avdić further emphasized, the 2020 Sandzak Games can have the epithet "small Olympics" and that with the help of the Government, relevant Ministries, along with regional cooperation and communication, they can bring athletes from the wider region to our city, which certainly includes BiH and Sarajevo as an Olympic city and a Balkan metropolis, which in its hundreds of years of existence, is considered an example of multiculturalism and a spiritual dimension recognizable all over the world.
Mayor of the city of Sarajevo Abdullah Skaka, thanking the delegation from Rožaj for the visit, expressed interest in establishing cooperation in this sports project and emphasized that such manifestations represent a bridge to further cooperation on a cultural and economic level between the two guards and the two countries. In addition, Skaka further emphasized that, if things go according to plan, he will personally visit Rožaje during the Sandžak Games.ž
At the meeting, it was concluded that SO Rožaje will take further initiative on the details of further cooperation, which will be done in coordination with the organizing committee, whose president is also the president of OO Rožaje, Mr. Almir Avdic.
We remind you that the Sandža Games were held for the first time in 1954 in Prijepolje, and during the past decades they were considered the largest amateur sports event in the whole of Europe. The holding of the games was interrupted in 1992 due to the war in the former Yugoslavia, started in 2001, interrupted again in Novi Pazar in 2008, only to be restarted and held last year, in 2018, also in Novi Pazar, on the initiative of the Bosniak National Council.
The Sandža games, considered the "three-border games", had a significant role in the development of sports and the construction of sports infrastructure, and especially played a role in the development of unity, good inter-ethnic relations and coexistence in the border area of the three former Yugoslav republics - Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia. and Herzegovina.
