Photo exhibition "From the Balkans to Canakkale"
The Bosniak Council in Montenegro, in cooperation with the Yunus Emre Institute from Podgorica and the Municipality of Rožaje, organized a photo exhibition and a screening of the documentary film "From the Balkans to Çanakkale" in the reading room of the National Library and the "Magaza" Gallery.
A photo exhibition and documentary screening are being organized in honor of the anniversary of the Battle of Canakkale.
To remind you, the naval battle of Canakkale (Battle of Gallipoli) is the bloodiest battle of the First World War, fought between November 3, 1914 and March 18, 1915. According to Turkish sources, the number of Bosniak volunteers from Sandžak who came to the Çanakkale battlefield and stayed to fight is around 15,700 people.
Director of the Yunus Emre Institute, Džan Guraj, said that the battle for Canakkale is the most significant battle in the history of mankind.
A cultural expert from Rožaj, Ibiš Kujević, spoke to those present about this significant battle. He said that he had been studying the details of this battle since childhood, and he had a reason, because his grandfather, after whom he was named, was killed in Canakkale. Kujević emphasized that the battle lasted 14 months and that a significant number of Bosniaks from Bosnia and Sandžak participated in this battle.
According to Selmanage Kardović, who was a participant and was recognized for his exploits, there were about 200 fighters from Rožaj.
The number of Muslims who took part in this battle, according to the research carried out by writer Ćamil Sijarić from Bosnia and Herzegovina and from Sandžak, is about 27 thousand, of which 17 thousand are from Sandžak.
The exhibition has so far been shown in Podgorica and Ulcinj.
