Novi Pazar, Tutin and Rožaje solve the problem of the pollution of Lake Gazivode in Ribarići
The mayor of Novi Pazar, Nihat Biševac, and the presidents of the municipalities of Tutin and Rožaje, Kenan Hot and Ejup Nurković, announced yesterday that the three local governments will provide funds to solve the problem of pollution of Ribarić Lake.
After the meeting, which he hosted, Hot told Radio Sto Plus that certain measures had already been agreed to permanently solve the problem and that their implementation would soon begin.
"Lake Gazivode is the pearl of our region and we must do everything to save and preserve it. Unscrupulous citizens and businesses by throwing garbage next to and into the river make it look more like a landfill than a natural resource that we can use as a potential for the development of tourism and the economy of our region," said Hot.
He added that one of the measures is the installation of dams on the lake, which would direct the garbage flowing from rivers and torrential streams in a certain direction, from where the competent utility companies would take it to landfills.
Recently, a good part of the surface of the Ribarić lake was covered by various garbage, mostly plastic packaging, which was carried by the Ibar river and streams.
For this reason, the locals and some environmental associations from Novi Pazar, Rožaj and Tutin organized several cleaning actions.
The initiator of the meeting of the three city leaders and the coordinator of the project is the Regional Agency for Economic Development of Sandžak.
