Nurković: The local self-government will support the development of women's entrepreneurship
Representatives of the Women's Political Network visited the municipality of Rožaje in order to promote the idea of forming a budget unit that would be a financial platform for the future development of women's entrepreneurship in this municipality. On that occasion, they met with President Ejup Nurković and proposed to him a potential model of financing projects that strive to involve members of the fairer sex in the business sphere in order to create and improve conditions for their equal treatment in the social community.
The Women's Political Network in Montenegro has formally existed for a year and was established by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which, since 2012, has been actively working in our country to improve gender equality and empower women in politics, economy, family and social life as well as the implementation of equality policies at all levels of work within organizations.
Jasmina Cikotić, a member of this organization and trainer for gender equality, said that the Women's Political Network consists of representatives of all political parties registered in Montenegro and that the primary task of the organization is to design and implement solutions to achieve a more advanced position of women in the community.
The President of the Municipality of Rožaje Ejup Nurković expressed his readiness to implement this initiative and emphasized that, according to financial possibilities, the local self-government will try to foresee and finance programs through the draft budget for the next year through which women will turn their business ideas into concrete occupations.
Nurković pointed out that a large number of women with a high level of education live in Rožaje, and in general those who are capable of responding to major business challenges, and that financial support can be a key factor in achieving their personal and collective success.
The idea of forming budget units was implemented in several municipalities in Montenegro.
We remind you that the municipality of Rožaje, in partnership with the Union of Employers of Montenegro, the Faculty of State and European Studies and the Association of Business Women of Montenegro, with the financial support of the European Union, implemented the project "Development of female entrepreneurship in the municipality of Rožaje", which included an education program for women who consisted of four thematic units: basics of female entrepreneurship, business plan development, marketing and accounting. In addition, the beneficiaries of the project were provided with additional support in the form of mentoring and logistics. The Office for Promotion of Women's Entrepreneurship was opened and a Women's Business Incubator was established in the municipality of Rožaje, the first of its kind in Montenegro.
