Celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Rožaje as well
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) was also celebrated in Rožaje at the office of the Association of Paraplegics at 2 p.m. The meeting was attended by political actors of all political parties, the management of the Municipality of Rožaje, headed by the president, Mr. Ejup Nurković, as well as public officials. According to the President of the Association, Jasmin Nokić, 1,500 people with certain disabilities live in Rožaje. Everything that has been done to this day is the product of the hard and persistent work of the members of the association. Members of the Association are representatives in both basketball and football, table tennis, athletic disciplines... They have achieved outstanding results with their work and are extremely popular both in Montenegro and in the region. Soon they expect donations from abroad, wheelchairs, which will help them with their future planned plans and successes in their domains.
Fahrudin Tahirović, a member of the Association, told the audience his vivid story that pointed to the irregularities that existed until now and the discrimination they face, instead of jobs in institutions, the former government offered them a simple cane and prostration on the streets.
This was an opportunity to ask questions to the President of the Municipality about their future status and the adaptation of the space so that public institutions would be accessible to them. They received the President's promise that their problems will be solved as soon as possible, in accordance with the planned order and priorities. Given that the Association has 1,500 members, the Municipality symbolically awarded them a check of 1,500 euros as a small incentive for their work. Esad Plunac, the president of FC Ibar symbolically presented them with a gift and an invitation to the jubilee celebration of FC Ibar when they will also be participants in the match.
All citizens are invited to use their behavior and attitude towards disabled people to encourage their future activities and involvement, to jointly solve the difficulties they face, with the aim of finding common solutions. A community that does not take care of people who need an additional form of support is a community without a sense of community and as such has no future. Solving their problems is one of the pillars of support for our country's accession to the European Union.
