The municipality of Rožaje supported the cleaning action of Lake "Gazivode"
In the organization of the non-governmental association "Srednji put" (Ecological sector), the city of Novi Pazar and the municipalities of Tutin and Rožaje, the cleaning action of the lake "Gazivode" in Ribarići was realized. This ecological stain is often cited in the region as an example of people's unscrupulous attitude towards the environment and proves how much man can damage the image of the living environment.
Local residents and volunteers from numerous organizations led by local leaders took part in the environmental action.
The organizers, pointing out the importance of preserving the environment, called on people to act in accordance with universal human and religious principles and help eliminate waste, which, they said, is an indicator of man's careless attitude towards nature.
Representatives of the Secretariat for Planning, Landscaping and Environmental Protection, Ski Center Hajla, Radio Television Rožaje, Fishing Club "Ibar", Boy Scouts from Rožaje and members of the Bosniak Party Youth Forum led by the mayor Ejup Nurković joined the cleaning action.
The first man of the municipality of Rožaje emphasized that the local self-government will solve the problems related to the improper disposal of waste in the river Ibar and the temporary landfill in the coming period. He believes that the environmental disaster in Ribarići will be remedied through effective neighborly cooperation.
Nurković says that the issue of the temporary landfill in Rozaje will be resolved soon, and that the process is not simple and requires coordination and agreement between several competent sectors.
"We must strive to build a conscientious relationship with the natural environment and, in accordance with European and world standards, strive to preserve the living environment that nature gave us. The representatives of Novi Pazar, Tutin and Rožaj agree that there is an urgent need to define the actions that will be implemented in order to suppress the improper disposal of waste that threatens to seriously threaten the natural balance and health of people in the entire region. "In order to reach an agreement on the way to achieve that common and important goal, a Commission composed of experts from numerous fields will be formed soon, whose work will be directed towards finding permanent solutions, the implementation of which will change the appearance of our environment," said Nurković.
The mayor of Novi Pazar, Nihad Biševac, praised the volunteers' engagement and confirmed that he will support measures that will eliminate the causes of waste accumulation in the lake in the long term.
Lake Gazivode was formed in 1977 by damming the upper reaches of the Ibar by building a dam over 100 meters high. It is 24 kilometers long and is located in the territories of the municipalities of Zubin Potok and Tutin, as well as the city of Novi Pazar. It is rich in fish, and numerous weekend settlements have been formed on its shores.
