The eighteenth memorial winter march "Safet Mavrić Ćako" was held last weekend in Hajla
In the organization of the Hajla Mountaineering Ski Club and the Rožaje Tourist Organization with the technical support of the Snowboard Club Jump, and under the auspices of the Municipality of Rožaje, the 18th Memorial Ascent on Hajla was successfully completed. The hike is organized in memory of the alpinist from Novi Pazar who tragically died on Hajla on January 6, 1997.
According to the chief coordinator and organizer of the expedition, Fevzija Kurtagić, the memorial gathered about 300 participants, and 146 of them climbed to the top, the participants of the ascent were mountaineers from Turkey, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, and almost from of all the cities of Montenegro. Mountaineers were accommodated in katuns in the village of Banžov (1456m above sea level) and the Grope Mountaineering Lodge (1980m above sea level). Kurtagić emphasized that the climb has become a recognizable tourist brand of Rožaj and Montenegro and that Hajla has become a mandatory destination for almost all mountaineering clubs in the region and beyond.
At the head of the column that started from Grop was Zulfikar Kurtagic, a member of PSK Hajla, who, with the help of his colleagues from the club (Ziko Kurtagic and Anisa Demić), managed to make his way through the snow drifts of several meters to the place "Sedlo". Ivan Femić, Jelena Petković, Denis Ferizović provided selfless help in breaking the trail... Two groups met at Sedel. The column from Banžov was led by Semir Kardović (PSK Hajla). From there, the mountaineers joined forces and continued towards the top. Despite the snowstorm, the mountaineers managed to climb the Hajla ridge, where the guides placed a rope to secure the passage over the ice ridge. Despite this, the guides asked some of the participants to give up due to bad weather conditions and inadequate equipment.
After a successful ascent, the mountaineers returned to the mountain lodge Gropa, where a warm mountaineer's lunch awaited them.
"The memorial climb on Hajla is the most massive winter climb in the region and as such aims to promote Mount Hajla, which has exceptional potential for the development of mountain tourism, and this is witnessed by foreign tourists who visit Mount Hajla more and more often in winter because of the ideal terrain for touring skiing, freeride skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and alpinism, and in the summer for trekking, mountain biking, mountaineering..." said Zulfikar Kurtagić.
