The equipment of the "Brezovačko brdo" park-forest begins, the Kingdom of Norway invests overnight funds

In the course of the next months, the project "Norway for you - Montenegro" will be implemented in Rožaje, which foresees the construction of various sports and recreational fields on the Brezovački brdo, in the forest located on the outskirts of the municipality of Rožaje.
Through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro", the Kingdom of Norway allocated 250,000 euros to support social inclusion through the improvement of local infrastructure in 10 less developed municipalities in Montenegro. The municipality of Rožaje is the initiator of this project and will finance 10 percent of the total monetary amount of its realization.
The President of the Municipality, Rahman Husović, pointed out the importance of this development program, which, as he said, will improve the ecological environment in the town under Hajlo and enrich its tourist offer. "The arrangement of the park on Brezovacki brdo is also of inestimable importance for the citizens of Rožaj because it will offer them a uniquely equipped corner where they will be able to spend quality free time", added the President and thanked the Kingdom of Norway for investing financial resources as well as all the bearers of the implementation activities of that project.
The coordinator of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Armen Čekić said that this activity is part of the local government's strategy to protect the environment and highlight the tourist potential of the municipality.

The park will have modern facilities that will attract domestic and foreign guests and influence the level of environmental awareness among citizens

"In the next five months, we will build a tourist house, a tennis court, a viewpoint with a bird observation tower, a volleyball court, a pedestrian-bicycle bridge and a basketball court with the aim of improving the quality of public infrastructure for tourists and citizens. We are implementing the project in partnership with the Rožaje Tourist Organization in order to influenced the increase in the number of tourists and the increase in environmental awareness of the citizens of the municipality of Rožaje, which will affect the reduction of waste disposal on green areas, because illegal landfills are one of the biggest environmental problems in the municipality of Rožaje,'' said project manager Hajrija Kalač.

Nedžad Murić, director of the Rožaje Tourist Organization, points out that Brezovacko Brdo is an extraordinary forest complex in the immediate vicinity of the city.
"Tourist organization Rožaje manages and manages the forest park Brezovacko brdo for a period of 20 years and in the future we will be even more involved in the protection of the locality in order to preserve nature through the implementation of projects in the field of tourism, sports and recreation. Brezovacko brdo is an area of special importance for the development of tourism in the municipality of Rožaje and is protected in order to preserve the cultural-historical and natural heritage as well as to protect it from further devastation and usurpation of forest land. I am especially glad that the Rožaje Tourist Organization will get its own house at the entrance to the park, where one of our info points and a souvenir shop will be located, and our employees will also spend more time in nature, Murić pointed out.
The project "Norway for you - Montenegro" is financed by the Kingdom of Norway with a total of 1.4 million euros for Montenegro, and activities on the ground are carried out by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
The project in Rozaje is implemented by the Municipal Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection in partnership with the local Tourist Organization and the magazine "Avlija".
