Implementation of the project "Let's stop violence against women in Rožaje" begins

The non-governmental organization "Ikre" from Rožaj, in cooperation with the municipal Office for Promotion of Women's Entrepreneurship, is implementing a project entitled "Let's stop violence against women in Rožaj", which is financially supported by UNDP in Montenegro.

RealistThe project will last six months, and the project activities will be based on various educational workshops and campaigns, the main goal of which is to raise the level of awareness of citizens about the presence of various forms of violence. and presentation to the public of legal oksources and mechanisms for the prevention and suppression of violence against women.

Realizers of the project Velida Hodžić (NGO "Ikre") and Amela Kalender (Municipal Office for the Promotion of Women's Entrepreneurship) pointed to statistical data that are the product ofof the occurrence of violence against women by the NGO sector and departments of the Government of Montenegro, and on the basis of which it can be easily concluded that this social phenomenon is present in Rožaje to a large extent.

Program organizer Velida Hodžić from NGO "Ikre" emphasizes the need to change the ways of thinking of individuals, especially boys and adult men, in the direction of changing attitudes towards the violence perpetrated against their mothers, sisters, and neighbors, a friendjicama. She mentioned that Montenegro is one of the signatories of the Istanbul Convention, which is a kind of platform for the institutional fight against all forms of violence and discrimination against women.

Amela Kalender, representative of the municipal Office for encouragement of female entrepreneurship, she presented the economic empowerment of women as an important subjecttor on the way to dealing with violence on women of different ages, and said that the project "Let's stop violence against women in Rožaje", a serious step towards solving the numerous causes and consequences of uslaws that are enforced on women in this environment.

Experts from various fields dealing with the topic of violence against women will be involved in the implementation of the project, and citizens, through our program, will have the opportunity to follow each of the announced implementation activities that will include different target groups.

The project was symbolically opened during kampany "16 days of activism protive of violence against women" which began on November 25, on the International Day against Violence against Women, and ends on December 10, on the International Human Rights Day.
