President Husović is satisfied with the work of the Day Center - the Municipality will provide support for activities with children and youth with disabilities and difficulties in development.
President of the Municipality Rahman Husovic today he visited the Day Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities and Developmental Difficulties with his colleagues and spoke with the director of that public institution Dženitom Kurtagić as well as with members of the team responsible for the care of children who are service users.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Husović praised the work of the Day Center and the dedication and responsibility of all the people who work there.
"I am very satisfied with the results you achieve in your work with children. Before you is a job that requires a lot of responsibility, effort and sacrifice every day, but which, I'm sure, brings you special satisfaction. I want you to know that the local self-government will continue to support the work of this institution and that we will be open to all forms of cooperation at any moment.", the president said Husovic.
He also said that the community must pay extra attention to children and young people with disabilities and developmental difficulties in order for their social integration to be successful.
"Caring for children and young people with developmental disabilities as well as people with disabilities must be a priority of every society. Through various mechanisms, the municipality of Rožaje will provide intensive support for the social integration of members of this population in order to jointly build a more prosperous living environment and thus remind that disability does not have to be an obstacle for active participation in social processes. he concluded President.
In the introductory part of her address, Kurtagić thanked President Husović and other representatives of the local government for the visit and emphasized that the work of the Day Care Center is fully adapted to the current epidemiological situation and that, without exception, the measures prescribed by the National Coordinating Body are respected, which, as she said, evidenced by the fact that there are no infected among employees and children.
She listed the main activities that are carried out with the children in that institution and pointed out that the conditions in which they stay are extremely good. She also emphasized that the Day Center has recently been equipped with a sensory room that supports the stimulation of the senses of hearing, sight, touch and smell. Kurtagić explained that this interactive corner will help children to explore and develop their sensory skills and added that the employees have already completed the initial training for the implementation of this innovative procedure in working with children with disabilities and developmental difficulties.
The day center for children and youth with developmental disabilities was opened in 2016 and currently has 20 service users, which also fills its capacity.
