THE PRESIDENT OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF ROŽAJ VISITED THE PLANT FOR THE PROCESSING OF FOREST FRUITS

The President of the Municipality, Mr. Ejup Nurković, together with his associates, today visited the Rožaj company "Interfood 35", which deals with the purchase, processing and export of forest fruits and is considered one of the most successful in this municipality.

The director of the company, Božo Bulatović, informed the leaders of the local administration that "Interfood 35" has 23 full-time employees and 80 seasonal workers, of which 90% is a female workforce, and that it deals with the purchase of forest fruits, blueberries, wild strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and mushrooms. .

This year was very difficult due to severe droughts, because the R mushroom "gave birth" poorly. Even in addition to the several purchase centers that we formed in the north, we did not reach last year's supjeh. That's why we based ourselves on the import of porcini mushrooms and chanterelles from Russia.

In the first eight months of this year, we exported goods worth 1.8 million euros, mainly to France and Germany, and in the same period we imported goods worth 93,000 euros, Bulatović said.

He said that, due to the weaker crop of mushrooms, they emphasized the purchase of other gifts of nature that abound in the north of the country.

 This year we put special emphasis on the purchase of fresh forest strawberries in the area of the municipality of Rožaje, we purchased around 35 tons and the purchase price ranges from 4.5 to 6.0 euros. In addition, we bought 150 tons of blueberries. The purchase of blackberries is underway and so far about 10 tons of this fruit have been purchased. Also, the purchase of autumn porcini mushrooms has started and currently there are most of them in Kolašin and Bijelo Polje, and the purchase price is 3.5 euros, said Bulatović.

We are planning to expand the capacity for the production of blueberry, wild strawberry and aronia mother juice. The value of the project is around 285,000 euros. We are currently working on its economic justification. We have all the necessary conditions for starting production as well as a trained workforce. If we implement the planned plan, we will create 25 new jobs. By the end of the current year, we expect exports worth another 2,000,000 euros, said Bulatović.

President Nurković expressed his satisfaction with the data presented, that is, with the successful operation of this company.

- "Interfood 35" represents a good example of planned work and long-term strategy, which gave good business results for both the Municipality and the company in particular. The fact that up to a hundred workers find work in this company during the season is of particular value. The local administration gives full support to such a concept and is ready in accordance with the possibilities and continues to provide the necessary assistance, said Nurković.
