President Nurković was presented with a peace plaque
The President of Rožaje Municipality, Ejup Nurković, was appointed Ambassador of Peace. Namely, the president of the Federation of Universal Peace, Michel Balcombe, as part of the project "Path of Peace in the Balkans" 2018, which is implemented in more than 120 countries around the world, at an appropriate ceremony in the Rožaje Cultural Center, presented the first man of the Rožaje municipality with a plaque and appointed him Ambassador of Peace.
Addressing the audience, President Nurković welcomed the guests and thanked the organizers of the event for putting Rožaje on the "roads of peace" map. On behalf of the citizens and the local self-government, he expressed his satisfaction with the gathering that took place in the city under Hajlo, which propagates peace, tolerance and mutual respect.
Michel Balcombe, president of the Federation of Universal Peace, emphasized in his presentation that Rožaje has a long tradition of participating in peace actions. Among other things, he added that there are many conflicts and problems at the global level, and that peace should first be sought within oneself and then spread to other people.
The event was marked by musical performances and speeches by numerous project participants, and young people from Rožaj and numerous countries around the world conveyed the message of peace through singing, dancing and other forms of presentation.
At the end of the program, the Flag of the Path of Peace traveling from Albania was handed over to the president of the municipality, who then handed it over to the young representative of our country, who will ceremoniously hand it over to Kosovo. Immediately after that, those present left their signatures on the flag that remained in Rožaje.
As part of the final activity, which was carried out in cooperation with the Local Tourist Organization, a group of cyclists organized a ride from the square to the Voli market and to the ETC, where the project actors were awaited by a bus driving the "Roads of Peace in the Balkans".
The "Peace Project" is implemented on a global level. Its main goal is to get people to know each other and resolve misunderstandings and conflicts based on racial, religious and other intolerances.
The event, which was held at the Culture Center, was preceded by a meeting of the project implementation organizers with President Nurković and other local self-government representatives. The project aims to connect young people, parliamentarians and ambassadors of peace from all countries of the Western Balkans with young people, parliamentarians and ambassadors of peace from countries around the world, so that together they can convey the message of peace, reconciliation and mutual progress to local and state leaders in each country.
25 young people will travel from country to country in one week, meet with important people at the state and local levels, holding various events. The project was opened for five months, from July to November 2018.
After Montenegro, the peace delegation moves to Kosovo.
