Recommendations from the Day Center for children and youth with developmental disabilities

Dear parents of service users,
Due to the current situation in the world and in our country and in accordance with the measures prescribed by the Government of Montenegro to stay at home due to extraordinary circumstances, in order to prevent the spread of the covid-19 virus, we propose a type of professional support in the form of proposals for activities for working at home through advice and ideas of the expert team on how to organize not only everyday activities, but also the education of the child in home conditions.

Organize your day by setting aside a few hours to devote to your child. If you have more children, try to organize joint activities for them.

Changes in the behavior of children with disabilities and developmental difficulties are expected during this challenging period as their schedule and routine are changed. Therefore, additional understanding and engagement is required.

Please choose from the offered activities those that are in accordance with your child's abilities and individual work plan.
From the field of life skills:

  • Washing hands more often, several times during the day, before and after eating and maintaining personal hygiene;

  • passive exercises – stretching arms and legs;
  • mild massage in a sitting and lying position;
  • walking on a flat surface;
  • walking up and down stairs;

In the following days, you will receive additional instructions and guidelines for working with your children. It is very important that the continuity of work with children (users of services) is not lost and that they continue to acquire knowledge and skills in accordance with the individual work plan and program.
