Working meeting with the Fund for the Development of Albania, on the occasion of cross-border cooperation

Yesterday, a working meeting was organized with the Fund for the Development of Albania on the occasion of cross-border cooperation through joint development projects, which is a continuation of the cooperation started in February 2015, when the representatives of this fund were a delegation in the municipality of Rožaje.

The meeting was attended by the mayor of the municipality, Ejup Nurković, with the advisor for developing development projects, Amela Kalender and the head of the Protocol Service, Mensur Kalender, the president of the municipality of Gusinje, Anela Čekić with the director of the Directorate for Investments, director of the Directorate for Investments of the Municipality of Plav, Fuad Feratović, director of the Regional tourism organizations Bjelasica and Komovi, the program director of the Fund for the Development of Albania with his associates, the president of the Skadar district with his associates, the presidents of the municipalities of Keljmendi and Margegaj with their associates.

The meeting took place in consideration of the main problems and challenges facing the cross-border region, areas of common interest and opportunities for joint action to obtain support from the EU and development funds.

The cross-border region faces the same problems, related to the weak socio-economic situation, outdated road infrastructure, lack of cross-border trade and economic cooperation of the nearest neighbors, emigration of the local population and large demands from citizens, the Government and the EU.

At the meeting, it was concluded that there is great interest in achieving active cooperation between local communities in the cross-border region, which can be achieved first through the creation and implementation of joint projects, especially in the areas of local and regional infrastructure, tourism, trade, agriculture and improving the efficiency of local self-governments.

It was agreed that the Cooperation Agreement between ADF, the municipalities of Rožaje, Plav and Gusinje and RTO Bjelasica and Komovi will soon be signed, that the main development projects will be exchanged and then a two-day working meeting will be organized where at least 10 strategic projects will be identified which will apply for development funds and EU funds.
