"Rožaje, one day I will be there, Montenegro, wait for me"
"I like your country very much. I would like to have a sign of her, a souvenir, a flag...", it was written in the message that Brazilian Marcelo Roveda sent to the local administration in Rožaje more than two years ago.
It seemed unreal, but there was no reason not to fulfill his wish... When Marcelo received a shipment from Rožaj after about two months, he couldn't resist sharing his joy with his Facebook friends.
"My meeting with the Montenegrin flag will be accompanied by a strong emotion. Thank you Municipality of Rožaje, I send you a warm Brazilian hug. I am Brazilian by birth, but my heart is Montenegrin. All my love and respect to Montenegro and Rožaj", wrote Roveda, who added that before Rožaj, he addressed other Montenegrin municipalities.
"Rojaje has become my second country. It was the only Montenegrin city that opened its doors for me, others, such as Podgorica, did not do that," said Roveda at the time.
The story was soon published by the media. Marcelo attracted more and more attention day by day, so he soon gained hundreds of Facebook friends from Montenegro with whom he is often in contact... The love for our city and country continued to grow. To the extent that he tattooed the coat of arms of Montenegro on his right leg and once again expressed one of his biggest wishes in life - to visit our country.
The story did not remain only at the local level, it was also reported by some media in the region, and it also attracted the attention of the always nostalgic diaspora.
A group of Montenegrins, interested in helping Roveda realize his unusual dream, opened a Facebook page with the intention of organizing Marcelo's visit to Montenegro. They also announced the opening of an account to which the money for that plan will be deposited.
And it all started in Rožaje, a city that always opened its heart and doors to all well-intentioned people...
With the conviction that he has represented his homeland in the right way, the President of the Municipality Nusret Kalač will make a personal effort so that, among other Montenegrin cities, Rožaje will be Marcel's host.
