Dear fellow citizens,
We inform you that the Municipality of Berane has abandoned the temporary storage of waste in Šemovac, which belongs to the Cmiljevica mountain and gravitates towards our municipality. With such a decision, the vital interest of all Rožaj residents was preserved, the extraordinary natural and tourist potentials, and people's health were protected. Those reasons decided the local administration to stand up against the decision of the Beran Assembly to locate the landfill in the immediate vicinity of the sports and recreation centers Turjak, Lokva and Skrivena. We held a series of meetings with competent state institutions and representatives of the Government, which bore fruit. The support of all of you, individuals, sports clubs, associations, NGO sector, was not negligible. All our differences were overcome by the only permanent interest - a better and more promising future for the generations to come.

Personally and on behalf of the local administration, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the preservation of nature and the future. I believe that we have unequivocally learned from this situation that we can only have a more promising life if we are united and united around the right values.

The local administration will, as before, strive to improve the overall environment within its competences, powers and authorities, which will bring personal satisfaction to every individual and community.
