When the story of the renovation of the Turjak ski resort, which was considered an important link in the economic chain of Rožaje, began a little more than a year ago, there were few who believed that the cable car engines would start again and that in one day the ski slopes would be accommodate over 2,000 people. Optimism and a clear vision of the local administration are the basic nucleus of strength and perseverance to successfully bring the project of renovation of the ski resort to an end. The local administration aimed to put the former ski resort, which had been out of action for 13 years, into operation for snow sports enthusiasts, which is a good indicator of the realization of the local administration's plans.

Funds of 300,000 euros for the renovation of the ski resort were allocated by the Government of Montenegro through its subsidy program for the development of tourism, and a significant part of the funds was allocated by the local administration from its budget. The municipality of Rožaje formed the company "Ski centar Hajla", whose management team did everything possible to restore the ski resort after 13 years and to spread the word about the restart of the ski center throughout the region, and the proof of this is the guests who come. from all cities of the region.

Propaganda material, a website, and advertising billboards were placed in Rožaje and Berane. Considering that the ski area was "shut down" for 13 years, during the restart (trial operation) there were minor technical problems, which by their nature had to be solved when the cable car was fully loaded, which was done and now everything works flawlessly. A 250-meter long baby ski lift was installed - for little ones, which was also financed by the local government from its own resources through subsidies and support for the project, and it also serves skiers up to 12 years old, controlled by experts and instructors, and safety is the first priority.

There are two ski schools at the ski resort: "Ski škola Rožaje" and "Ski škola Turjak" run by top ski instructors with international licenses. Protective fences, safety sponges, trail markings were made, the mountain rescue service with all the accompanying equipment (snowmobile, trough, equipment for emergency repair of possible injuries) was established, a medical worker is also present on the trail, and a contract with an insurance company was signed.

The track is prepared by a new tractor equipped with the most modern technology. Other amenities such as places for a break and a hot drink or sandwich along the trail have also been created. Public address system for notifications and background music to make the stay more pleasant. A large parking space is also provided. At the very entrance is the traditional restaurant "Košuta", which offers all kinds of specialties of local and foreign cuisine and all kinds of drinks at very reasonable prices.

In the end, it is worth saying that in the past fifteen days, the following people stayed on the track: optimists, pessimists, recreational and professional skiers, children and parents, journalists (well-intentioned and others), as well as a large number of guests from the side, which created an additional motive for further improvement of conditions and hospitality, for which Rožaje is widely known.
