Press release of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Municipality of Rožaje
Bearing in mind the situation that has arisen due to the spring works in the open space, lately there has been a frequent situation of property owners burning unmown meadows, clearing their properties, cleaning and collecting waste, and finally setting it on fire.
In most cases, a fire on a burning property gets out of control, thus turning into a fire that is difficult to control.
The resulting fire endangers human lives, residential buildings as well as the property of the owner, i.e. it creates a general danger caused by the human factor and as such constitutes a criminal offense in accordance with Articles 287 and 302 of the Blood Code of Montenegro.
The protection and rescue service in cooperation with local self-government bodies, communal police and the department of the security center of OB Rožaje will be forced to take prosecution measures against the owner and initiate criminal liability.
For this reason, I appeal to the citizens of the municipality of Rožaje to avoid burning in open spaces (meadows and deposited waste), which causes general danger. And if there is a need to set fire to waste, they should contact the Protection and Rescue Service, who will surely find a time and date with the owner of the property to carry out that action in order to avoid consequences for the owner of the property and criminal prosecution.
And all with the aim of reducing the general risk and consequences during the occurrence of a fire.
Rožaje, 20.03.2020.
Agović Nuradin
Commander of the protection and rescue service
