CEREMONY SIGNING OF THE CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CITY WATER SUPPLY
The President of the Municipality Nusret Kalač and the owner of the company "PNP" Nenad Perošević, as a representative of the contractor, signed the contract on the construction of the city's water supply today. The start of work on the project worth over two million euros was announced for July 1.
President Kalač pointed out that this is the most valuable work in our municipality in the past few decades, and the implementation of which will solve the issue of water supply for at least half a century.
"This was a serious job, a serious challenge for the local government because it involves large funds and a project that required time. It often meant something that individual citizens did not understand, so they spread information through the media that the local government was disinterested and irresponsible towards such an important capital project. The fact is, however, that we and only we from the local administration launched this initiative. We were the only ones who remembered that we should work on the construction of the water supply system, not only the primary one, but also the secondary one," said Kalač.
After the completion of the project, Rožaje will drink very healthy and high-quality water, and what is most important, according to Kalač, in the next few decades, the city will be provided with sufficient quantities of water.
"So, we were not the ones who stopped the work, but the money was necessary to realize this. It is obvious that it was often subject to abuse, because providing several million euros for a small municipality like Rožaje is a very serious business. We believed in ourselves and that belief led us to finally sign the contract," said Kalac.
In his opinion, this project will be very important for the development of the Rozaj economy, especially tourism.
"For the development of tourism, it is also important that you have quality water, a solid waste landfill, and a quality drainage system. We are entering our first job, and we are busy working on other projects as well, and I believe that in a few years everything will be completed. In very difficult economic circumstances, today we have something to offer the citizens, and I would like to thank everyone who participated in the preparation of this work, on which our services were engaged for more than a year," said Kalač.
The laying of the foundation stone will be attended by representatives of the Turkish Development Agency "Tika", who, as significant partners in the implementation of the project, donated water pipes worth around one million euros.
