TARIK HADŽIĆ – ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
The municipality of Rožaje already traditionally awards awards to the most successful in the field of sports from the territory of the municipality of Rožaje.
The committee formed by the president of the municipality, composed of sports workers and representatives of the municipality, after considering the proposal, the committee decided to choose Dženana Dacić from the cycling club Ahmica as the most promising athlete, who in 2013 rode races in the junior cadet category and won three gold medals and one silver medal.
Jusuf Nurković, a member of the Ibar judo club, who is a multiple champion of Montenegro for cadets and is a candidate for the Youth Olympic Games in China in 2014, was chosen as the most promising athlete.
The best coach is Isko Bećović. Bećović is a long-time sports worker and volleyball club coach. He also coordinates the work of junior selections of elementary schools from the area of the municipality of Rožaje.
Omer Nurković, M.Sc., a longtime sports worker who successfully led the cadet national team at numerous tournaments and championships, was recognized for his scientific contribution to sports, and this year, on the occasion of marking 20 years of operation of the Ibar judo club, he wrote a club monograph.
The best sports team is KK Ibar, which competes in the first A league and finished the half-season in fifth place. This result achieved in 2013 is the best in the history of the club. The club is well organized, it has younger selections that achieve notable results, as well as a basketball school from where they draw their staff.
Tarik Hadžić, a member of the Montenegrin national team and one of the best skiers in the country, was declared the best athlete. Tarik is the state champion in slalom and giant slalom in 2013. and the best-placed skier on the FIS ranking list, which ensured his participation in the Winter Olympics in Sochi this year.
In addition to these awards, which we traditionally give, as I already said, the Commission decided to present a plaque to the Ibar judo club, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in December last year.
The President of the Municipality pointed out that in the previous year, the local administration allocated significant funds for financing and encouraging the development of sports, that they were not enough, but that the athletes from Rožaj achieved very good results, stressing that KK became a first-league team, that they other athletes managed to achieve very enviable results by competing in various events, and he emphasized as the crowning achievement of Rožaj sport in the previous year, the trip to the Olympic Games in Sochi, Tarik Hadžić, the only male competitor of our national team who will represent Montenegro.
At the end, he pointed out that the Municipality of Rožaje will organize a special ceremony (cocktail) to see off Mr. Hadžić, and financial support of €2,000.00 will be awarded for his participation in the Olympics.
