In Rožaje, 1,103 applications for the legalization of buildings were submitted, there is no information about the extension of the deadline
According to unofficial estimates, there are over 2,000 illegally built buildings in the municipality of Rožaje. The deadline for submission of applications for legalization expired at the beginning of last week.
Citizens who submitted a request with incomplete documentation to the municipality by the scheduled date have until October 1 to submit a certified report, a copy of the plan and the title deed.
The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism is satisfied with the response of citizens to this legal obligation.
Alisa Ećo, an independent consultant for construction in the Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection of the Municipality of Rožaje, told us that by the established deadline, in this municipality, 1,050 requests for legalization had been submitted and that they did not have information about the extension of the deadline and that they were waiting for advertisements from the relevant ministry in that regard.
Fines for citizens who do not enter the legalization process will be rigorous. They can go from 340 euros to 1200 euros per year for a 100-square-meter building, until the moment when the need arises to remove the building. There will be no demolition of buildings unless it is necessary, i.e. if it is not located on some road infrastructure and if it does not interfere with the space, they said recently from MORT.
