Day care center for the elderly officially opened in Rožaje
The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Kemal Purišić, and the President of the Municipality of Rožaje, Ejup Nurković, solemnly opened the Day Care Center for the elderly, the first such service in Rožaje.
The establishment and operation of this facility is supported through the project "Continuation of the reform of the social protection system" and "Development of capacities for the provision of social protection services", which the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare is implementing in cooperation with the office of the United Nations Development Program in Podgorica.
The director of the Center for Social Work in Rožaje, Kadrija Agović, addressed the audience first. He said that the Day Care Center will provide services to members of the elderly population in Rožaje every working day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., which include conversations and socializing in order to overcome loneliness and social isolation, organizing board games, using the library and reading the daily press, one free meal and daily service (tea, juice, coffee), then, psychosocial support and provision of minor medical services and advisory-educational workshops. Agović noted that the services of this institution can be used by people over the age of 65.
President Ejup Nurković pointed out that the opening of the Day Care Center for the elderly is another result of the good cooperation of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare with the local self-government and wished future users of its services a pleasant stay. The first man of the municipality said that the talks are leading to the implementation of new projects in Rožaje that belong to the field of social and child protection.
On this occasion, Minister Purišić stated that the main goal of equipping this type of facility is to improve the quality of life of members of the third age in Rožaje through integration into the social community and the use of their potential. The minister made the observation that as a society we must be aware that entering the third age is accompanied by facing numerous challenges and experiences that carry different risks.
Minister Purišić also mentioned that the total value of the investment is about 11,000 euros and that the building has an area of 80 square meters.
Day care for the elderly in Rožaje is the eighth facility of its kind in Montenegro. Expansion of the network of day care centers is also planned in the municipalities of Bijelo Polje and Petnjica, it was announced at the ceremony.
During this visit, Minister Purišić met with the President of the Municipality Ejup Nurković where it was concluded that cooperation with local self-governments results in an increased number of open facilities, services and services provided in the field of social and child protection.
