A command post exercise is underway as part of the IPA Floods and Fires program
RESPONSE IN THE CASE OF FLOODING - An exercise has begun in which members of the Rožaj Municipal Protection and Rescue Team also participate.
Members of the Rozaj Municipal Protection and Rescue Team to participate in the command post exercise on the topic of responding to floods, which will last for several hours today and tomorrow.
️The exercise is held in Rožaje and is an activity within the Multi-Beneficiary IPA Program related to flood protection and forest fire risk management - IPA FF.
The President of the Municipality, Rahman Husović, addressed the participants on behalf of the hosts. He said that he is glad that such an important event is being held in Rožaje and that the two-day training is an excellent opportunity to improve knowledge that leads to effective response in emergency situations.
President Husović also mentioned that the citizens of Rožaj had faced difficulties caused by fires and weather problems in the past period.
The IPA FF program began its implementation on November 15, 2020 and will last 36 months, and the beneficiary countries of the program are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.
The consortium implementing the program consists of: Department for Civil Protection of the Republic of Italy (DPC) - leading partner, Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (URSZR), Swedish Emergency Situations Agency (ESA), General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Interior of Romania (IGSU), Fire and Rescue Brigade of Moravian-Silesian Region (FRB-MSR), APELL National Disaster Management Center from Romania and Italian
research foundation for environmental monitoring (CIMA Research Foundation).
The general goal of the project is to strengthen regional cooperation and the exchange of best practices in the field of protection against floods and forest fires, to support the beneficiary countries of the program in harmonizing national legislation with the acquis of the EU and help in reaching EU standards and practices in the field of civil protection.
The Department for Civil Protection of the Republic of Italy (DPC) and the Italian Research Foundation for Monitoring the State of the Environment (CIMA Research Foundation), as well as officers of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, are responsible for conducting the command post exercise.
