XIX International Children's Festival "Golden Snowflake"
The international children's song festival "Golden snowflake" was organized for the first time in 1994. True, at the first competition of singing skills, the children performed hits of folk and popular music. Thanks to the insight and enthusiasm of a few people from Rožaj and the local Culture Center and the open heart and professionalism of the famous Montenegrin children's poet and television creator, the late Dragan Radulović, the golden snowflake descended from snowy Hajla to Rožaj and year after year grew and became more and more golden. Its glow quickly spread across the sky of Montenegro and spread almost throughout Europe. So for almost two decades. An enviable tradition sung to the tune of children's hearts.
The organizers of the International Children's Song Festival are the Municipality of Rožaje and the local Cultural Center. The sponsor is the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro, and the media sponsor is the Public Service Television of Montenegro. The event is financed by the funds of the Municipality of Rožaje, the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro and donors.
The festival takes place at the end of February or the beginning of March. Children aged six to twelve participate in the "Golden Snowflake". It lasts for two competition days, i.e. evenings. On the first evening, child contestants from Montenegro will perform. At the second international evening, children from abroad compete. Children from about fifteen countries of the region, Europe and beyond are participating.
For years now, the Festival has gathered the most famous creators for children from Montenegro, the region and Europe, composers, arrangers, songwriters, whose confirmed quality contributes to the fact that "Golden Flake" is considered one of the most respected children's festivals in the region. This is evidenced by the evaluations, statements and opinions of the most authoritative people whose artistic and creative authority is indisputable. After all, the best confirmation of this is the huge interest of composers from the entire region. The compositions from this Festival are recognizable by their high quality and by such performers.
During the Rožaje Festival, it becomes the capital of fantasy and laughter. If they happen to meet someone without a smile on those days, the children give them their own. The people of Rožaj welcome their guests with hospitality and a big heart. The whole city lives for the Festival. Rožaje is recognized by the "Golden Flake", and Huhulja by Rožaje.
