XVI MEMORIAL TRIP "SAFET MAVRIĆ - ĆAKO"
Organized by the Tourist Organization of Rožaje and PSD "Hajla" and under the auspices of the Municipality of Rožaje, the XVI memorial march "Safet Mavrić - Ćako" was held on Saturday, January 12.
Safet Mavrić, a famous alpinist and mountaineer, died on January 6, 1997 on Hajla, and since then mountaineers from Montenegro and the region come to the memorial climb, which is organized every year on the second weekend in January.
This year's memorial gathered around 210 mountaineers from the region, and 109 of them conquered the peak of Hajla.
The participants of the hike, in addition to the hosts, were mountaineers from Istanbul, the Czech Republic, Belgrade, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Podgorica, Sombor, Dubrovnik, Makarska, Novi Sad, Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Senica, Nikšić, Split, Pljevlja, Plava, Beran, Kotor , Tuzla, Novi Pazar, Pristina, Prizren, Peć and many others.
The hike was also attended by the President of the Municipality of Rožaje, Nusret Kalač, who led the column of mountaineers to the home in Grope, and the ascent guides were PSD "Hajla" members Semir Kardović and Zulfikar - Zuko Kurtagić.
The total ascent time was 6 hours to the top in exceptional weather conditions.
All the participants of the hike were located in the Banžov village and the Gropa mountain lodge, at an altitude of 2,000 meters.
After returning from Hajla, lunch was organized for all participants.
