The women of Rožaj celebrated the International Day of the Fight Against Diabetes

On the occasion of the International Day against Diabetes, with the aim of raising awareness about this disease and its treatment, in which both healthy and sick people should participate equally, the women of Rožaj, with the support of the local administration and the Health Center, organized an educational program and a lecture on the topic "Sugar disease - the disease of modern times".

Dr. Jaho Pepić, head of the counseling center for the fight against diabetes at the Health Center in Rožaje, held a short lecture in which he introduced all those present to the methods of treating diabetes. During the lecture, he spoke about current medical achievements in the field of diabetes treatment, and how important the patient's role is in the treatment of diabetes.

Pepić said that in the municipality of Rožaj they do not have precise data on the number of people suffering from diabetes, i.e. that there are about 1,200 registered people suffering from diabetes, but that this is certainly not precise data because it is a disease that, due to mild symptoms, often goes unnoticed for years. so for every patient there is one person who does not know they have diabetes.

For all the participants of the lecture, it was possible to measure the amount of sugar in the blood, and after that, the women volunteers visited ten Rožaj families that have registered female members, who suffer from diabetes, and handed them modern devices for measuring blood sugar, which were provided by the local administration.
